Move of the Day
Reverse De La Riva to Back Take
BrownPurple
When they smash your DLR, invert the hook and climb to the back instead of resetting.
Reverse De La Riva shows up when a passer kneels into your DLR and pins the hook. Instead of abandoning the position, you invert the hook across their thigh, control the near sleeve or belt, and either elevated-sweep or spin to the back. Brown-belt detail: the underhook vs overhook decision on their near arm.
The steps
- 01As they smash your DLR, turn your hook so the foot is on the inside of their thigh (RDLR).
- 02Get an underhook on the near arm or a belt grip. Other hand on the far sleeve or ankle.
- 03Elevate their near knee and shrimp your shoulders off the line.
- 04If they post, spin underneath (bolo-adjacent) or sit up into a single.
- 05Insert the near hook the moment you see back numbers. Seatbelt before the second hook if they scramble.
Details that matter
- The RDLR hook dies if your hips are flat. Stay on your side.
- If they hide the underhook, go to a kiss-of-the-dragon style back-take or a waiter's sweep.
- Do not invert without a grip on the belt or pants. Naked inversions get smashed.
